“My practice is focused on gardens- considering them as sites of curated Nature. I find these spaces offer intriguing and complex interactions with, and definitions for, concepts of “the natural” and human relationships to landscape. I am a gardener and an artist and both these practices support and inform each other.
“Foliage that shimmers (I want to touch it)” responds to plants in my partner and my greenhouse collection that reflect light, shimmering. This piece aims to convey an atmosphere of a plant filled space. The abstraction and flat qualities of the canvas allude to the glass panels of a hothouse, where fog and condensation obscure the plants within.” ~ Douglas Schofield, 2021
