With over thirty years experience as a practicing artist and art educator, Graham Marchant has been a full time artist since 2003. He was President of the Sydney Printmakers between 2003 - 2008 and has been a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute (AWI) since 2005.
Using a life time collection of objects and textiles, Graham constructs an environment belying the casual clutter of collected memento mori from life and nature.
Working in the mediums of drawing, painting and printmaking, Graham intently observes and explores the nature of various objects and the physical environment, and the human need to collect, organise and order the physical environment.
The interplay of light, colour, pattern, and the meticulously detailed placed objects amongst often well known pieces of textiles, including William Morris designs of the early Arts and Crafts movement, are now recognisably Marchant´s own.
