Acrylic and Oil on canvas, 41x51cm
For me, the banksia symbolizes so many things. It is familiar and iconic and yet it carries a strangeness and dark colonial history with it – a sense of duplicity between comfort and the unknown. Arranged on a kitchen table, I am interested in the conversations we have surrounding the idea of home. A feeling that we can both simultaneously feel apart of something, yet our homes can be equally isolating or alienating places.
